Invisalign before and after.  Actual patient.

Can I straighten MY teeth with Invisalign?

Look at the following examples.  Do you see your smile?  All the example are typical situations which Invisalign can correct.  Invisalign not only creates a beautiful and confident smile, it creates a healthier mouth by correcting many commonly found dental issues.

Overly crowded teeth: This occurs when there is simply a lack of room in your mouth to fit all of your teeth.  When left untreated, overly crowded teeth can cause dental decay and can increase the chances of having gum disease.  overcrowding can also affect how your teeth fit together and function.

Widely spaced teeth:When there is too much room and your teeth are widely spaced apart, you can develop problems chewing, gum disease or decay. This can also occur if you lost a tooth because of trauma or decay.  Closing spaces between the teeth and aligning your teeth properly, helps you look better, chew better, and can help you maintain your teeth.

Crossbite: A crossbite can occur when your teeth are not aligned correctly between the upper and lower jaw.  An example of a crossbite situation would be when the upper teeth touch the inside of the lower teeth, or the lower teeth touch the outside of the upper teeth, on one or both sides.  Sometimes the bite looks asymmetrical and can cause abnormal wear of the teeth, gum disease, and bone loss.

Overbite:  It occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth. It can be caused by either genetics, bad oral habits, or over development of the bone that supports the teeth. This issue can lead to gum problems or irritation, and/or wear on the lower teeth and can cause painful jaw and joint problems. This is an example of overjet also, where the upper teeth and lower teeth do not touch in the front.  Excessive wear occurs on the back teeth as a result.

Underbite:This occurs when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth. It's usually caused by undergrowth of the upper jaw, overgrowth of the lower jaw, or both. It can also be caused by missing upper teeth. This issue can prevent the normal function of front teeth or molars which can lead to tooth wear. It can also cause painful jaw and joint problems.pe your paragraph here.

The steps are simple.  We will evaluate your smile to see if you qualify for Invisalign clear aligners.  If so, impressions of your upper and lower teeth will be taken, along with dental and facial photos, which are sent with a prescription from the dentist.  Once everything is evaluated Dr. Hilton-Foley will have you come in for a quick preview of what your teeth would look like after treatment.  If you like what you see, we will proceed by having your clear aligners fabricated, and schedule for you to get started.  Typically office visits are at six week intervals until your treatment is complete.  We would love the opportunity to discuss with you, how Invisalign Orthodontics would help you to achieve a beautiful, straight, healthy smile.

Health Benefits of Straighter Teeth
It’s easy to see that a straight, well-aligned smile looks great, but it's important to know that it often means it’s also a healthy smile. Straight teeth are easier to maintain, less tartar and food is entrapped so the gums tend to be healthier.
Healthier gums
Signs of periodontal disease, such as swollen gums and redness, can surface due to teeth that are crowded or too widely spaced. Clinical studies have shown that when teeth are properly aligned, it helps the gums fit tighter around the teeth, which can lead to better periodontal health. Your gum health may improve after Invisalign treatment, simply by aligning your teeth so you can better manage brushing and flossing. Traditional braces require metal brackets and wires which can be difficult to floss because of all the metal hardware. It can be time consuming and difficult for most people.  Since Invisalign aligners are completely removed to eat and clean your teeth, this problem doesn't exist, therefore, you maintain a cleaner mouth and less chance of decay.
Easier cleanings
One of the Invisalign system’s best qualities is that it uses no metal bands, brackets, or wires that may trap food and plaque like traditional braces do. Since the removable nature of Invisalign allows you to maintain good oral hygiene habits, you may also reduce chances of plaque buildup, tooth decay, and periodontal disease.
Improved chewing and speech
Improperly positioned teeth and jaws can lead to speech difficulties and difficulty chewing.
Maintain comfort and tooth structure
Misaligned teeth and jaws can result in abnormal stress on your teeth.  This can cause painful trauma to supporting bone and jaw joints. These issues can also cause abnormal wear to the biting surfaces of your teeth, which can trigger continued problems in the future, such as the need for crowns, and bridges.

  Invisalign Orthodontics

If you have always wished for straighter teeth, but didn't like the thought of metal brackets and wires, Invisalign clear aligners may be the treatment that you've been looking for.  Invisalign Orthodontics make it possible to have straighter teeth with the use of clear, removable aligners, without metal bands and brackets.  Aligners are switched out every two weeks as your teeth move in small increments.  The clear aligners are transparent, so no one will even know that you're wearing them!  Unlike metal brackets, you are able to brush and floss your teeth normally.  Your diet is not restricted, the way it is with traditional braces.  Invisalign is exciting because through the use of computer imaging,  you can see the end result, before you even start treatment.
